Branch out: Shop the Men's Department

Many women's wear trends originate as men's wear, yet the on-trend options in the women's department are limited and often don't cater to plus size women.

So, why not try shopping where the trend originated?

Men's departments often have better clearance sales, higher quality materials, and a larger variety in fit, han the woman's plus department.

I usually target "metro" men's lines (for example Bar III at Macy's or Kenneth Cole Reaction) that have slimmer cuts and trendy colors. I also take shirts in at the waist if I want a more tailored look.

I wore a men's Kenneth Cole Reaction Chambray tucked into City Chic high-waisted shorts for lunch with my grandparents at the Jersey Shore. When paired with bold, feminine accessoreis, the look reads relaxed and effortlessly chic (Although my belt was a bit askew =).

Found myself in NY unexpectedly this Thursday with only daywear, so I ran to Forever21 in Times Square to do a quick (cheap) makeover for night!

I found fantastic wide legged sheer black trousers, a great striped shirt with a racer back and a fabulous necklace to boot!
